Mentimeter is an online interactive presentation tool designed to facilitate real-time engagement between presenters and their audience. It offers various question types, including polls, quizzes, word clouds, and open-ended questions, with participants responding via mobile devices. Their answers are instantly displayed in visual formats like bar charts and word clouds, enhancing interaction and keeping audiences actively involved.
What sets Mentimeter apart is its simplicity and accessibility. Both presenters and participants only need a web browser to use the platform—no special software is required. Presenters can design their interactive slides, while participants can join simply by entering a code on their devices. This makes it especially suited for remote or hybrid work and educational environments, where participants might be spread across different locations.
1.Pre-class Quiz
Before starting a lesson, instructors can use Mentimeter to create pre-class quizzes or knowledge review quizzes, helping students activate prior knowledge. This gives teachers insight into students' understanding of upcoming content, allowing them to adjust the lesson accordingly.
2.Real-time Classroom Interaction
During lessons, Mentimeter facilitates interaction through polls, multiple-choice questions, or open-ended questions. When explaining key concepts, instructors can insert a quiz to check students' understanding.
3.Classroom Discussions and Brainstorming
Mentimeter's open-ended question and word cloud features are particularly useful for classroom discussions and brainstorming sessions. Instructors can ask open-ended questions, and students can anonymously share their views or opinions. Their answers are displayed as a word cloud or in text format on the screen, encouraging more students to participate in the discussion.
4.Classroom Polling and Opinion Gathering
Instructors can use Mentimeter to conduct polls when discussing multiple perspectives or choices.
During the workshop, participants exchanged contact information, teaching experiences, and research insights, fostering a collaborative and supportive academic environment. They also expressed strong interest in the work of the CTL and discussed the potential for collaborating on future workshops.
